T.B. Watson has been through many changes since 1909, when it began as a Gentleman's Outfitters on the corner of English Street. The current owners' grandparents bought the business after 1945, expanding it into a ladies-wear shop, barbers, fishing tackle / sports equipment specialist and finally a tobacconist and wine & spirit merchants, along most of the northern side of English Street.

Changing tastes and the growth of department stores lead to disposal of other aspects of the busines and a concentration on the quality wine and spirit trade, initially wholesale, later as a retail business. The company prides itself on its customer service, attention to detail, and in particular, its wide choice of malt whiskies, including many limited editions, collectors items and ceramics.

The most recent acquisition to the business has been the remarkable and highly-successful Galloway Glass engraved glass and crystal business started by Frances Mccallum. The workshops and offices now are located within the English Street premises. As party favours, trophies and individual gifts, the engraved glass and crystal complement the wines and spirits often sold with them.

T.B. Watson now provide personalised labels for miniatures of malt & blended whisky and wine. These are perfect for for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries & weddings etc. The malt whisky miniatures in particular are popular as wedding favours.

Spirit of Galloway, a relatively new branch of T. B. Watsons situated in Castle Douglas in the South West of Scotland, is proving popular with locals and tourists alike. The shop boasts a spectacular array of 400 malt whiskies, including at least 10 different bottlings of our local spirit 'Bladnoch' along with wide choice of other spirits & liqueurs from around the world.
